5 new deacons ordained in orlu diocese - december 17, 2011.

Emmanuel Ukonu, Ugochukwu Aladi, Luke Alamezie, Remigius Anyadioha, Princewill Chukwunyerenwa, Brendan Mgbenwelu, Jude Mmeremikwu, Joseph Nwiboko, Johnbosco Obika, Raymond Ozowara, Dominic Udegbe, Isidore Ugokwe, and Uchegbu Christian. Those installed as the new Accolytes include Paul Anozie, Collins Iwudibe, Paschal Nwokoro, Christian Achi, Nichodemus Adii, Clement Aladi, Victor Agbaka, Charles Ejieji, Emmanuel Maduekwe, Sebastian Mgbe, Remigius Nwike, Johnbosco Obiakor, Dominic Obiakor, Innocent Obiefule, Anthony Ohaekwusi, Paulinus Okeke, Onwukwe Kevin & Stanley Onyeagba. After the installations came the election of the Candidates for the diaconate ordination. It was done by the ArchDeacon and the Diocesan Director of Vocations, Very Revd. Dr. George Chikata. The Cadidates for Diaconate include Brian Ukomadu, Precious Eze, Paschal Eburuo, Reginald Owulezi (for Orlu Diocese) and Henry Ekene Ihenetu SDV (for the Vocationists).

In his Homily, Very Rev. Dr. Fred Nnabuife, expressed gratitude to God for the gift of the 5 young men being ordained today for the Church as Deacons. He thanked the Ordinands for donating themselves generously amidst the various hardships they endured. He thanks equally the Parents, the families, the teachers, the Seminary formators, the fellow Priests, friends, Benefactors and benefactresses of the ordinands and prayed God to bless and reward them abundantly. Fr. Fred stressed the need of responding effectiviely to Divine Vocation. He traced the origin of the Deaconate in the Church and highlighted the called to the office of Deacons as a call to service and not to cheating. He reminded them that their stay in the Parishes and the time between their diaconate and priestly ordination is for them to prepare very well for the priesthood. He reminded those who were into the various ministries to use their offices for proper participation in effective evangelization of the people in the Church.

It was exactly at 12: 05 pm that the major ordination rite was concluded and the five young men became Deacons through the laying on of hands and prayers of ordination by the bishop..

The Deacons are drawn from the different parts of the Diocese and beyond and have been fully incardinated into the Catholic Diocese of Orlu. They have completed their Philosophical and Theological studies and have fulfilled, to a reasonable extent, all other basic requirements for deaconate ordination.

After post-communion prayer, the Bishop thanked all who are present at the occasion. He expressed his appreciation to the Priests and Parishioners of St. Joseph's Parish Okporo for their preparation. He thanked the Rector of Seat Wisdom Major Seminary, Owerri, Rev. Fr. John Iwe, all the priests, Rev. Sisters, the Vocationist Congregation for gracing the occasion. He and wished all a very merry christmas and prosperous new year. In a like manner, the Rector of the Church, Very Rev. Fr. Josaphat Obiajunwa thanked the Bishop for choosing St. Joseph's Parish Okporo as the venue for the deaconate and the installations. He thanked all who graced the occasion. The hosting Parish presented ordination gifts to the newly ordianed deacons as tokens of appreciation for what the Lord has done for them.

The Bishop, the Clergy, the Religious, their Biological families and the entire Catholic faithful of Orlu Diocese congratulate the new Deacons and wish them happy ordination and spirit-filled and fruitful pastoral ministry in the Lord's VineYard.

On Saturday, 17th December, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish, Okporo in Orlu L.G.A., The Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Toochukwu Ukwuoma ordained 5 new Deacons (4 for the Catholic Diocese of Orlu and 1 for the Vocationist Congregation. Equally, There were installations into the Minor Ministries of Lectorate and Accolytate. 20 New Lectors were installed, while 18 old Lectors were raised to the office of the Acolyte.

The mass started at about 10: 30 am and was presided over by the Local Ordinary and the ordaining prelate, Bishop Augustine Ukwuoma of Orlu Diocese. After the Gospel, the introduction and installation of the candidates for Minor Ministries of Lectorate and Accolytate took place. Those installed as the new Lectors include Henry Anaeche, Johnbosco Ezugha, Moses Iheanacho, Stephen Mbachu, Fabian Nkobiedede, Kenneth Obialisi, Chinonso Okoroichi,
