RECENT DIOCESAN EVENTS

2 NEW PARISHES INAUGURATED IN ORLU DIOCESE IN JANUARY 2012.
On Monday, 2nd January, 2012, Sacred Heart Station Obioha, carved out from Holy Trinity Parish Ogboko Ideato South, was inaugurated to the full-status of a Parish. Within the inauguration Mass, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Nwadike was appointed and installed as the Pioneer Parish Priest.

In the Same vane, Thursday, 5th January 2012, witnessed the inauguration of Holy Rosary Parish Orlu, an off-shoot of Holy Trinity Cathedral Parish, Orlu. During the inauguration Mass, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Arihi was appointed and installed as the Pioneer Parish Priest. With these events, the number of inaugurated Parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Orlu clocks 152.

FR. SYLVA OKECHUKWU LAID TO REST
The remains of Late Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Sylvanus Okechukwu was laid to rest on Monday 13th February, 2012 at the Orlu Diocesan Priests' Cemetery after a requiem Mass presided over by Archbishop A.J.V. Obinna at Holy Trinity Cathedral Orlu - Nigeria. He hailed from Umuowa - Orlu, ordained a priest on 14th February 1982 by Pope John Paul II at Kaduna, and was a Lecturer at Seat of Wisdom Major Seminary Owerri. All the Catholic Bishops of Owerri Province were present at the Funeral. May God rest him eternally. ==== Read More ====
