COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ORLU

Arch Angel Gabriel’s Media complex is an outfit of the Orlu diocesan establishment. The media outfit (building) was started in 2011 under the directives and support of the bishop, Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma to the diocesan director of Communication, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Uzochukwu. The media outfit was initiated to handle the different media activities of the diocese especially the print and electronic media. The media complex was officially inaugurated with its stone laying  in  June 21, 2013 during the 5th Episcopal anniversary of his Lordship, Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma, the Catholic Bishop of Orlu. And on 4th February, 2014, Nwannegadi Trinity Press Nig Ltd, publisher of The Forum Newspapers of the diocese relocated from its temporary site at the Cathedral premises to its provisional permanent section of the media complex.

The Nwannegadi Trinity Press started in 2006 when its first kord machine  acquired through the donation of our German friends (courtesy of Rev. Fr Eugene Dike). it was registered in 2006 as an enterprise but in 2010, it was registered as limited liability institute when the Forum newspaper that can be said to be the initiator and the brain behind its establishment  was turning out to be a real newspaper for the diocese.
The Forum newspapers started in 1994 with Rev. Fr. Boniface Duru as its editor. Although before its inception in 1994, the diocese has a circulating  paper in the form of a newsletter with the name “Orlu Diocese Today” under late Msgr Damian Oparah in the 80’s but this did not last long due to fund and other obstacles until Rev. Fr. Boniface Duru, with the support of the then bishop, Most Rev. Gregory Ochiagha came up with a fresh idea of the newspaper. The Bishop named it “The Forum”, drawing inspiration from St Paul’s mission to the Ephesians where the people established a forum for sharing ideas, and  dialogue to get to the truth. The Bishop, therefore, gave the motto as “RALLYING FOR THE TRUTH”. The paper was then published monthly by the founding Editor, Fr. Boniface Duru and was registered as the diocesan newspaper with the number thus: ISSN:07942923.

Thereafter, other editors who have ran The Forum include: Rev. Fr. Anthony Osuji , Rev. Fr. Titus Offor (who started bi-weekly publication of The Forum), Fr. Eugene Dike (through whom Kord 64 machine was donated to our press through his German friends), Fr Cyril Obiji and  Fr. Maurice Emelu (who standardized The Forum when she won the best newspaper of the year during his administration) and my humble self Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Uzochukwu.
At the moment, The Forum newspaper  circulates in all the parishes in Orlu diocese and beyond in Imo State. It is a widely read paper. No wonder it came out as the first ever Catholic Newspaper of the year in February, 2008.
We are very grateful to all our readers and sponsors. We humbly call for more sponsorship as we prepare to take The Forum on weekly production.
